ABOUT
I am a relational psychotherapist with over ten years of experience in individual and group counseling treating trauma, depression, anxiety and eating disorders, including anorexia, bulimia and binge eating. I have a deep and clinical understanding of how feelings of emptiness and discomfort in aspects of our lives can lead to repeating familiar patterns that keep us stuck.
I provide a compassionate, nonjudgmental space in which to explore difficult experiences, thoughts and feelings. We will find a comfortable pace with which to identify why you came to rely on these coping mechanisms, learn how to release them and replace them with more adaptive approaches. I aim to help you live a life grounded by internal stability and safety and to develop relationships that provide you with love, connection and acceptance.
My training was completed at The Family Institute at Northwestern University, during which I worked as a counselor at Columbia College and community mental health centers in the Chicago area. I spent many years working with individuals and families at trauma, mood and eating disorder clinics in the Chicago and Boston areas. My approach draws heavily from my training in psychodynamic theory and practice of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy in intensive settings with clients struggling with challenges related to mood, disordered eating and trauma. I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a therapy that facilitates healing from the distress of traumatic memories and experiences. I have Perinatal Mental Health certification through Postpartum Support International to provide optimal care to those dealing with mood and anxiety symptoms related to pregnancy and the postpartum period.
It is important to get a sense of who you will be working with when beginning with a new therapist. With this in mind, I offer an initial 30 minute in person or phone consultation at no cost.
